7th September 2014 – British Indoor Championships – Chill Factore Manchester

Sunday of the double header of races at Chill Factore in Manchester brought the British Indoor Championships, again a very strong U12 field.

Run 1 felt fast, and after the rest of the field finishing strongly, I was joint second with Harry and only 0.47 seconds behind Elliott.  So high hopes for Run 2.

Run 2 was disappointing with a slight slip on one of the gates and I couldn’t improve my Run 1 time, whilst everyone else had better Run 2’s, so ended up 5th.

Disappointed as wanted to finish off my indoor season 2014 with another podium, but given me looks to work on for 2015.

6th September 2014 – Anglo Welsh Indoor Championships 2014 – Chill Factore Manchester

All geared up for a weekend of racing at Chill Factore in Manchester, unfortunately Mum wasn’t very well on the Friday so she didn’t travel with us.

Both days had a strong field in the U12 category, so it was going to be a hard weekend and a chance to see nearing the end of the 2014 Indoor season to see how much time I have eaten into the second year U12.

Run 1 was my fastest time of the day with a 17.29 seconds leaving me in 2nd place, and a slightly slower Run 2 time 17.37 seconds cemented a podium 3rd place.

Well done to Elliott and Jack (looks like Jack, Lucas and Kayne will be the ones to beat next year in the U12s). photo 12sphoto 11 photo 12 The results can be found here.

31st August 2014 – Strava Stats

So after receiving a Forme road bike for my 10th birthday from Mum and Dad, I am starting to use Strava (www.strava.com) to track my miles.  These reduced size Forme race bikes for kids are amazing http://www.formeulabikes.co.uk and are super light with great parts.

Here is a screen grab for August 2014, which we managed a couple of rides in Holland.

I won’t be able to get much road cycling in over the winter months, but hopefully Dad will finish renovating the garage into a gym and I can get the turbo trainer out and start racking up the miles.

Holiday Time At Centre Parcs, De Eemhof and 10th Birthday

Great week’s holiday after the long weekend spent training at SnowWorld Landgraaf.

My parents bought me a Forme Formeula 24″ Road Bike to help me with my strength and conditioning fitness programme.  So we had a few days out and about alongside the Dutch very straight canals and waterways.  First ride comprised of a 22km ride.

Racer Ready “Mini Racers show fire and determination while having fun”

Another great write up on the U10 and U12’s taking part in the European Championships by Neil at Racer Ready.  Read the article here.

rr2

the two run race with best time to count format for the Under 12 and Under 10 age groups gave the racers plenty to think about and the opportunity to not worry about making a mistake as only the best time would count. … The Andrew Hjortt set course had many of the same combinations that the racers will meet when they make the step up to the next level  in the future but with the stubbies rather than the large gates.

Joseph Thompson from Norwich was the only racer to go under the magic fifteen second mark on either run and was a worthy winner of the race – fastest on both runs! Harry Cosham took second place and Elliott Bennett took third ahead of Zachary Metheringham with Lucas Ellis in fifth.

With the indoor racing season at Snozone in Castleford now having come to an end for summer 2014, Graham and Cathy Beck have decided to step back and let others take over the running of the races. After 20 years of sorting out, organising and running the races, next summer will see some new faces helping out. Many thanks to both for the hard work and support in getting summer racing at the indoor slopes to this level. The sport has moved on and the indoor races are taking the sport forward. Many current racers including the likes of Dave Ryding, Jai Geyer and others have taken part in the Beck organised races.

Thanks for the mention Neil.
