8th April 2015 – Rehabilitation Continues

Went with my ski coach, Ben, to visit Elite Physical Medicene in Aylesbury this afternoon (http://www.elitephysicalmedicine.co.uk).  Amazing gym and consulting rooms. Met Paul Thawley who asked me loads of difficult questions, like how did I fall over ! ( http://www.elitephysicalmedicine.co.uk/the-team/paul-thawley/ ) He showed my knee on an Ultra-sound machine and I could see a small lateral tear in my Medial Collateral Ligament, and my knee bones and the fluid around the knee.  (He also showed me how to walk properly with my crutches!) Session 1 at Elite Session 1b at Elite   So I have a series of exercises that I have to repeat during the day and a return appointment next Friday. Thank you.

4th April 2015 – 3rd April 2015 – Training Week With Gravity at Hintertux – Day 7

My last day, and being on crutches means no skiing with Glen on the final morning. 😦

But massive thank you to Helene, Byron and Spencer for taking me Ribs and Banana Split shopping (that really cheered me up).

A even bigger thanks to Helene for looking after me all week.

Late night flight back to Gatwick with Glen, again thanks Glen for looking after me. (He did really well pushing all his and my luggage, our two sets of skis and me in a wheelchair around Munich airport and then back in Gatwick).

3rd April 2015 – Training Week With Gravity at Hintertux – Day 6

What started a great day turned into a nightmare.

Hintertux last day

Whilst skiing in powder I hit some really deep powder and went over the tips of my slalom skis and landed with a twisted knee.

Glen and a passing German paramedic came to my rescue.  So have to be stretchered down on the front bucket of a piste basher then ambulance to see the same Doctor who saw me at the beginning of the week with my infected ear.IMG_0257

After x-rays and test and a revisit to the Doctors the next day after the swelling had gone down a bit, they think, luckily, that I have only stretched my Medial Collateral Ligament.  So means rest, elevation, ice, etc for a few weeks.

So it also means my I can’t spend a 2nd week in Austria with Ambition on a taster week.  Also means my parents have a sort out getting me home a week earlier. IMG_1653 IMG_1649 IMG_1650
