17th April 2015 – Rehabilitation Continues

Two weeks since my fall and tearing my MCL in Hintertux my rehab is going really well.

Visited Paul at Elite Physical Medicine early this morning. Ultra sound scan shows healing really well.

So I can move away from the knee splint at the weekend (after my FA Cup Semi Final trip to watch Arsenal v Reading) and use strapping tape for the next 2 weeks.

With the amazing Paul we planned our a return strategy that prevents me skiing (and racing 😦 ) for the next two weeks. So I have to pull out of the ISA Schools Race and the Manchester Club National. Disappointed to be missing both races but we have to look long term.

So no sport for next two weeks but have to up my S&C sessions with Ben Reid to 2 sessions per week to work on strengthening my knee.

Then a graduated return to skiing. All planned out to get me fit and ready for the GBR Indoor Races at Manchester in mid May.

Massive thanks to Paul Thawley (lots of letters after his name so he knows what he is doing) of Elite Physical Medicine.

8th April 2015 – Rehabilitation Continues

Went with my ski coach, Ben, to visit Elite Physical Medicene in Aylesbury this afternoon (http://www.elitephysicalmedicine.co.uk).  Amazing gym and consulting rooms. Met Paul Thawley who asked me loads of difficult questions, like how did I fall over ! ( http://www.elitephysicalmedicine.co.uk/the-team/paul-thawley/ ) He showed my knee on an Ultra-sound machine and I could see a small lateral tear in my Medial Collateral Ligament, and my knee bones and the fluid around the knee.  (He also showed me how to walk properly with my crutches!) Session 1 at Elite Session 1b at Elite   So I have a series of exercises that I have to repeat during the day and a return appointment next Friday. Thank you.
