Ran the Hooky Race for Life 3 mile “fun” run today with friends Oli and Miles.
Finished 9th out of 150 runners including adults. Well done to Oli (4th or 5th) and Miles winning the U8 age group.
Selected for Outside Centre for the school Colts A team for what proved a very hard fought match against a very strong, fast and powerful Maidwell Hall. Reading their website their Colts A had won 4 out of 5 matches but very large points gap, so we knew it was going to be a hard match.
After a breakaway try by Maidwell, HT was 0:7, with our team being overpowered in the rucks and mauls. Half time let us re-group and after a Mr Clarke team talk we were up for the second half.
However this started poorly with another breakaway try but they failed to convert.
We then started to battle back with some flowing rugby and also starting to have more power in the scrums, rucks and mauls and we managed to score two converted tries and won the match 14:12 !
Found out on the Friday, for the second week running I was awarded Player of the Match ! Very proud ! Bring on Ashford School next week !!
Also very proud to find out that Mr Usher and Mr Clarke had chosen me to be one of 5 chosen to represent Beachborough Year 6 at the “Talented Rugby Day” at Magdalen College School on Monday 6th with Mr Grant Seely (Head of Rugby at Magdalen and ex Academy Coach at Northampton Saints)
Must have shown enough skill and commitment in last weeks win against Broughton Manor Colts, to earn a place in the Colts A again, this time at inside centre.
First away match for me at Beachborough, against Christ Church Cathedral School in the centre of Oxford.
We won 19:7 in what was a hard fought match, and I had a try disallowed (not so sure the ref got the decision right, but hey thats rugby).
What put the icing on the (gluten free cake) was I was awarded Player of the Match on my second game.
Selected to play in my Schools Colts A team for the first match of the season against Broughton Manor.
Away team brought only 1 mixed Colts A & B, so we eventually played a mixture of our Colts A and B’s so I got a good long run at wing in the second half.
Ended up winning 33:14.

Great week’s holiday after the long weekend spent training at SnowWorld Landgraaf.
My parents bought me a Forme Formeula 24″ Road Bike to help me with my strength and conditioning fitness programme. So we had a few days out and about alongside the Dutch very straight canals and waterways. First ride comprised of a 22km ride.
I also completed my PADI Discover Scuba Course, and I loved it. Want to get onto completing my PADI Open Water qualification!

Lots of Zip Wire and climbing ! had a great time.

A couple of videos of my scuba diving and FlowRider !
Plus a great trip into Amsterdam to visit the Anne Franks hiding place and a great tour of the city.
An amazing day (should be a weekend but I had to leave for a Gravity Ski Camp in Landgraaf on the Sunday) of sport coaching in loads of sports by some of the best players in the world.
And Dad got to meet one of his Leeds Rhino’s favourites.

The Saturday sessions included football coaching by some of the FA coaches and the Rap / England legend (79 caps and that amazing goal against Brazil) John Barnes, Rugby coaching from Stuart Lancaster, Martin Johnston, Will Greenwood, Austin Healey, and the Leeds Rhinos and England and GB Captain Kevin Sinfield. Together with hockey coaching from England players Sarah Thomas and Simon Faulkner.
Will definitely go to SportsFest 2015 !!
The Buckingham Under 10s took part in a two day Rugby festival at Burnham on Sea over the weekend. After 5 hard fought games in the Pool matches, we progressed to the semi-finals of the Bowl.
The semi-final again Old Cov Spartans ended in a draw, resulting in our progression into the final by way of a count back to the Pool Matches.
In the final we faced Cobham Hookers, and after a very tense first half, where we went into the break 1:0 up, Cobham fought back in the second half to equalise. Again we ended up in count back to the Pool Matches, where we both finished the Pool with 5 points each, so the next count back was on total tries scored, where we had scored 9 tries against Cobham’s 3 ! So victory in the Bowl was ours !
All the squad played amazingly well, with crunching tackles, amazing power in the rucks and mauls and some great running and support play ! Plus sun-tans for all !

Presentation of the Bowl was made by Rob Cooke and Darren Dawidiuk of Gloucester Rugby Club.

Head Coach Tim and Coach Richard giving some praise to all the squad before award presentation !
A great weekend with great fun ! With the Coaches, Squad and other Buckingham Players.

First cricket fixture of the season, away at Bruern Abbey School results in a loss. We managed 62 off 20 overs, with Bruern Abbey reaching 64 in 16 overs.
I opened the batting and lasted 12 overs, but need to increase my scoring rate. Need to spend more time in the nets !
