Week 1 5th to 19th April 2014 – Gravity Hintertux Training Camp
Two weeks of glacier skiing, with loads of snow in Hintertux with Glen and Kayne.
5th April – Travel day to Hintertux – After settling into great hotel, with use of the Tirolhof for evening meals, chill time, and sleep.
6th April – Day 1 – Sunday – At high level the glacier must have had a big dump of snow, as there was around 200mm of powder on top of the bashed icy piste below. Hard work all day, but got loads of good powder experience. Facilities at Hintertux are amazing ! (plus their roast chicken lunch is amazing – need to improve my German so I don’t get a kids portion of chicken !)

(Falls today me x3, Kayne x3, Glen x1, my Dad 0 – Yes NONE)
Forgot the training slopes have T-bars, so no leg rest on the way back up !
After a fitness and conditioning session, amazing food at the Tirolhof Hotel, a movie during rest period and sleep.
7th April – Day 2 – Monday – 7am wake up call, breakfast and onto the glacier. Conditions were amazing today, with glorious sunshine and fast hard packed pistes. Today we worked hard on fast steep (actually very steep) GS turns and keeping the speed high but in controlled GS turns.
I think today’s ski conditions, piste choice and training is one of my best ever days skiing (maybe also because my Dad stayed at the hotel and worked he didn’t slow us down!)
(My German is improving, managed to order a full small roast chicken for lunch !)
8th April – Day 3 – Tuesday – Another warm day with chance of rain / snow at glacier level, but the rest of the week seems to be sunny with low overnight temperatures to keep the snow in good condition.
Great breakfast, kit sorted and off to the gondola for the trip up to the glacier.
Impromptu warm up session whilst Glen shops for suncream for Kayne.

Looking forward to another amazing day on my GS skis with Glen and Kayne.
Update: rain at lower levels today. When asked if the conditions on the glacier are as good as yesterday; answer was “Yip”
9th April – Day 4 – Wednesday – Woke up to snow this morning in the Valley, and temperature down here a lot colder, so hopefully some good conditions on the glacier.

Third Real Snow – February 2013 – The Grand Massif, Morillon, France
My Third skiing holiday back in February 2013. Great time again on Dahu, Marvel and loads of other runs. Great skiing with my friends Oli and Miles (and parents).
Again ski schooled with ZigZag, and completed the Vermillion Cristal award with Seb! Like 2012, it was amazing and this time loads of off-piste skiing. Unlucky not to get the award above, Gold Cristal, but as you can see from the photo below I was the smallest and youngest ! and the powder was a little challenging ! All good experience !

(with Seb and the School on the right hand side of the peak !)

Took part in the local ESF Fun Slalom, although the two local girls took it very seriously! Only just beaten by the 16yr and 14yr by less than 0.5 second ! and they had full race set up, whereas I was on my hired Salomons ! (need to take my skis next year !)

Oli did really well in the race as well !

I did try to say to my Dad that if I had a pair of these then I would be faster (maybe I need to grow older to understand its not the logo that creates the speed) “One day Son!” said Dad !

Great skiing holiday with great friends ! Thanks Paula, Steve, “Amazing Skier ” Oli and the “Straight Down the Hill Rocket Man” Miles !
Again, ZigZag were amazing ! http://www.zigzagski.com

Second Real Snow – February 2012 – The Grand Massif, Samoens, France
My Second skiing holiday back in February 2012. I really love The Grand Massif, some amazing very long green runs (Marvel) and some really good red and blue runs (Dahu, Sairon, Portet, Marmotte, not to be confused with Marmottes) and some great off piste and black runs !
In Ski School with ZigZag, I completed was in the Bronze Cristal group but my instructor Regis passed me on the level above, Silver Cristal. ZigZag are an amazing ski school and will be enrolling next time we come to The Grand Massif !
