So back on the 28th March 2016 I had a massive tumble in Tignes and ended the day in surgery. It’s been a long hard 233 days of no-sport, rehabilitation in the gym with BRPC, examination and testing with Elite Physical Medicine, and massive frustration but always trying to smile.
So today I was allowed to Ski again. Ben put me through my paces with very easy set of drills to test out my knee. All the tests went well, so its the start of a slow and steady build-up of drills over the next few weeks !
Thank you to all that have helped me get to this stage, the Doctors at Bourge St Maurice and Stoke Mandeville, Team Evolution (Lesley for looking after me at hospital and Paul and Alex), all the Evo Parents and Athletes, Paul and Gus at Elite, Ben at Ben Reid Performance Coaching, all the staff and my school mates at Beachborough School for putting up with my non-sport frustrations, SSE Alpine Squad Management for having faith & confidence in me and giving me time to rehab, Snozone for the early piste time and lastly my family for keeping my spirits up and helping keep the drive going !
Z Man will be back !
Sorry Zac, you Mum and Dad love this two shots ! Keep up the great work on and off the slopes.
Massive thanks to everyone who are helping Zac achieve his dream! @teamEvolution @BenReidPerformanceCoaching @ERSA all the coaches @SkiMKRaceTraining @GravitySnowSports @Khandahar all the teachers @BeachboroughSchool
Part of the rehabilitation process as back on skis for first time since my fall in Hintertux, some 4 weeks ago. 1:1 for one hour with Ben, included warm ups, very easy skiing, turns ensuring knee follows ski tip. Ben also video’d several of my runs and we analysed my lower leg, knee, thigh alignment. Good news no pain either on the slope or afterwards and the video analysis shows very little/no dependancy on my left knee or compensation for my right knee. Thanks Ben and thanks to SnoZoneMK for the slope access.
[Dad edit – I am sure I could make an iMovie of these funky Dance Moves below!]

Great piece of sports video analysis software that allows angle, line, position analysis to be measured. Green lines show I kept my legs/knees parallel so no dependancy / compensation. All good news.

Massive thanks to Ben and Paul @ Elite for getting me back so quickly. Now the hard work continues !
