What this Week Brings – w/c 9th September 2013

Due to the SnoZone having freezing issues, No Gravity session, but Tuesday was a SMK Training session.  Good to get back on my skis again !

On Saturday I took part in a Gravity Boot Camp, with a skills session followed by freestyle ski session.  With Strength and conditioning in the afternoon – a great day !

Good news this week at school, as picked for the School Under 11 Rugby Colts team as Scrum Half !  First match next week !

Sunday rugby training at BRUFC was a great session, with the coaches introducing scrums.

What This Week Brings – w/c 2nd September 2013

Wind down week before school starts again.

We played our first Division 2 Football match against last Saturdays U10 Tournament Winners, Woburn Lions Whirlwinds.  What we thought was going to be a tough match turned into a storming 6:1 win.  http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/greathorwood/j/match-centre-89370/0-2041783

After a clean sheet in goal for the first half, I  managed to weave through Woburn’s defence and score a great goal.

Sunday morning Rugby training was a good session.

No skiing this week, just having a rest.

We also visited a few of the World War 1 Commonwealth Graves and also a German Cemetery, where over 60,000 German soldiers are buried – all very sad.

We also visited, Diksmuide in Belgium, where they have restored a WW1 trench, which was known as the Trench of Death.  Later we stopped at the Essex Farm Cemetery, which is also the site of a field hospital where the Canadian John McCrae worked as a  surgeon.  McCrae is famous for his poem In Flanders Fields, which related the Poppy to the remembrance of WW1.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Flanders_Fields

On the Saturday, our football team GHRC U10’s played in the GHFC Tournament, think we won 2, drew 3 and lost 2.

Well done to Kayne, in winning the 5th and final race of the British Indoor Race Series and with that winning the whole race series !

Had a mixed day, missed a gate on Run 1, then had a great time of 17.82 seconds (we think), which if he had had a controlled run 1 would have been a good race !

In the fun team slalom, was a Team Bob member and we made the semi finals !

Over a hundred supporters gathered in the Players’ Lounge for the event as the players received their official squad numbers for the forthcoming campaign.
The evening also offered the new signings of Lee Hodson, Jason Banton and Ben Reeves to meet supporters at the first official Club event. The players were split across the tables to ensure all fans could quiz their favourites as they shared a bite to eat.
BBC 3 Counties Radio presenter Luke Ashmead was the host for the evening and took the opportunity to quiz a handful of the players as they were handed their shirt from Karl Robinson and Gary Waddock.
Some of the players, namely Izale McLeod, demonstrated quick feet to avoid facing questions on the microphone.
Following the shirt presentation, fans were giving the chance to pose their questions to boss Robinson, Waddock and skipper Dean Lewington.
The questions ranged from whether there is the possibility of playing two strikers up front – to which Robinson responded with a resounding ‘no’ – while one young fan asked whether the players have enough hunger to succeed. Again, Robinson gave a passionate response, informing supporters that every player will always give 100 per cent.
Dean Lewington said he believes the defence have enough strength in depth across the board with the addition of Lee Hodson as well as Jon Otsemobor and the skipper himself able to cover at centre-back.
