Over a hundred supporters gathered in the Players’ Lounge for the event as the players received their official squad numbers for the forthcoming campaign.
The evening also offered the new signings of Lee Hodson, Jason Banton and Ben Reeves to meet supporters at the first official Club event. The players were split across the tables to ensure all fans could quiz their favourites as they shared a bite to eat.
BBC 3 Counties Radio presenter Luke Ashmead was the host for the evening and took the opportunity to quiz a handful of the players as they were handed their shirt from Karl Robinson and Gary Waddock.
Some of the players, namely Izale McLeod, demonstrated quick feet to avoid facing questions on the microphone.
Following the shirt presentation, fans were giving the chance to pose their questions to boss Robinson, Waddock and skipper Dean Lewington.
The questions ranged from whether there is the possibility of playing two strikers up front – to which Robinson responded with a resounding ‘no’ – while one young fan asked whether the players have enough hunger to succeed. Again, Robinson gave a passionate response, informing supporters that every player will always give 100 per cent.
Dean Lewington said he believes the defence have enough strength in depth across the board with the addition of Lee Hodson as well as Jon Otsemobor and the skipper himself able to cover at centre-back.

What This Week Brings – w/c 15th July 2013

After another amazing weekend of Ski Racing in Manchester, thanks to Snowsport GBR, the Chill Factore Manchester and all the volunteers that made the two race days go so well.  Loads to do at Chill Factore, like the rock climbing (thanks Tania and Dom).

This week is a ski free week, as its Travel Week at The Grove School.  So this morning we are off to Hilltops in Norfolk for a full week of outward bounds activities !  I will post pictures when the School update their photoblog.

And for the first time in months, I have a free weekend, although I may try to get a ski race training session in on either the Saturday or Sunday morning ?

13th & 14th July 2013 – GBR Indoor Race Series Race 5 and 6

Great weekend of GBR Indoor races on Saturday and Sunday !

Saturday was Race 5 and a Giant Slalom races.  In Race 5 I posted two great runs with a 16.90 in Run 1 and 16.97 in Run 2, which gave me 1st Place.  Kayne finished 2nd.  Sienna in the Under 12 Girls also got a 1st Place.

After the Slalom event, they held a Giant Slalom race, which also resulted in a 1st Place. So a great day of racing.  We all then went to watch Monsters University !

Sunday, well that was another day !.  Run 1 was an acrobatic run, and lucky to finish with a 18.78 seconds run! Run 2, I really went for it but missed a gate, so disqualified !  First run still resulted in 3rd Place.  Well done to Kayne with a 1st place after a first run crash, and to Sienna who won the Under 12 Girls.

What This Week Brings – w/c 8th July 2013

After a Third Place with The Grove School Ski Team in the Gravity Snowsports Schools Race last Monday, a good training session last Tuesday, School Summer Fete on Friday night, a punishing day’s Boot Camp with Gravity on Saturday (in that heat as well) and a First Place in the ERSA Summer League Race Under 10’s, and a Second Place in the Giant Slalom, and watching Murray’s historic win on Sunday, it was a great week.

This week brings a TGIS Ski Club with a Gravity Gates Session tonight, my Coeliacs Dietary Consultation on Tuesday, Inter-House Sports (rounders I think) on Wednesday, and two “knightly” performances in the School Play “What A Knight” on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, this is going to be a busy week !

Friday brings a trip to Manchester for rounds 5 & 6 of the GBR Indoor Series over the weekend.  Keep posted for updates.

Update: off to a winning start, won a Snowsports England competition for an Ice Age 4 DVD ! Thanks Kirsty of SSE !

Update: he is my photo entry to win a signed Atomic helmet, signed by the Atomic Pro Racers including Marcel !, here’s hoping !

7th July 2013 – ERSA Summer League Race at Snow Centre Hemel

Great morning of racing again at Hemel and on my longer 125 Atomic Skis.

Posted a first run of 13.17 and a second run of 13.01 !  First Place, with both my runs taking the fastest two runs in the Under 10’s.  Good times from Alex Ogden from Norwich (13.75 and 13.57) and Thomas Beglin from Hemel (14.50 and 14.51 I think).

Thanks to ERSA for the 1st Place Prizes of Forcefield Base Layer Shirts.

Also great Giant Slalom run, after the last few mediocre GS runs in the last few race meetings.

Finished 2nd in Under 10’s Giant Slalom but great to post a second run improving time (run 1 13.40 run 2 13.32).  Well done to Alex who posted a fastest time of 13.17 on his second run.  So very happy with both my Slalom and Giant Slalom today.

Ski MK Race Team, despite a small number of entrants, finished with some great results, so well done to Mia, Bethany, Dominic, Daniel, Heather and Robert (left quickly to watch the Murray final!) who all had podium places.  Also Daniel got through to the Pro-Slalom Shootout Semi-Final but lost out to Paul Telling.  Also great to see Francis (first ever race) and Lawrence, posting some great runs!
